This time of year the blue herons are nesting in their rookery just across from Hedcate Park (where the new estuary centre is located). It is quite a sight especially if they are squawking away like Jurassic Park!
Join in the beach clean up this Saturday May 5th 2012 for Low Tide Day Location:Kil-Pah-Las Beach for Science activities for children and families, community beach clean-up, food and music. 9:30 to finish after lunch.

SUP Paddle Canada Instructor’s Course 

I survived! It was fantastic! The weather held out at Gyro Park in Victoria, BC. A bit o’ wind day 3 like 25 knots according to Big Wave Dave. It was enough to flip and toss a 10’6” x 33” Starboard board from the grass to the air over 8 feet!

The course not only certified me to teach Paddle Canada SUP lessons but also gave me more stoke on SUP’ing. If that is possible! I am totally addicted to pivot turns and back braces right now. I have committed to race in the open grom for the Vancouver Island Race Series in September at Gyro Park. Summer training begins!

I had my first unofficial SUP lesson with a trooper who SUP'd 4km with some good wave action on their inaugural voyage! I have my instructor's training this weekend! Stoked with SKILS and Mike Darbyshire! Easter Monday was beautiful in Cowichan Bay. We paddled from the bay to Cherry Point Marina. Along the shore the tide was way out, so we saw tons of pink starfish! We tried to get the dog on the board but too many distractions;-)  While in the cottage, the Electricians almost finished today.
